A gallon of milk sure did get expensive :) ! All joking aside I think I did pretty well. I will be going back to get about 10 – 15 more boxes of Cheese Nips because with the BOGO sale and the coupons they will be free! If I combine the free Cheese Nips with the Gerber accessory overage and the FL baby wipe overage I can get more goodies even cheaper.

Target May 30 Trip

May-31-2008 By Ashley

I have been wanting to get over to Target to get more of the Lays Crisps chips before the sale is over and the Target coupon expires. I also wanted to get some of the Herbal Essence shampoo with the manu. q and the Target IP. I think I did pretty well.

I got a great deal on the razor pack. It came with the razor, full size shaving gel and a water bottle. The best deal of all is the Herbal Essence. For every two bottles of that I purchased I can send in for a free manicure or pedicure. That means I will get 4 free manicures or pedicures to do with whatever I want. I can either use them for my self or give them for gifts. Not a bad deal for .94 a bottle.

All of the Target Internet Printables I used can be found: HERE

On Friday, May 30 Walgreens had some really great deals going on so of course I had to get in on them. On May 30 and May 31 the Easy Saver Books for May and June overlapped. What that means is the May coupons and the June coupons are both good those two days. On top of that happening they also had a $10/$30 coupon available to use. Here is how I took advantage of those deals.

    Transaction 1

(8) Wrigley 17 stick gum packs – 9.52
(4) Schick Quattro Razor – 37.96
(3) cases Pepsi Drinks – $10
(1) Theragran-M vitamins – 4.99
(4) Childrens Maalox chewables – 23.96
Subtotal – $86.43
-May Quattro IVC – 16.00
-June Quattro IVC – 12.00

-May Maalox IVC – 8.00
-June Maalox IVC- 8.00
-7 Day Wrigley’s BOGO q – 4.76
-(4) mfg BOGO Wrigles q – 4.76
-(4) mfg Maalox q – 4.50
- mfg q $2.00
-$10/$30 Wags q
Total – 4.41
Tax – 4.84
Total OOP – 9.25

Got back $2 RR for Pepsi drinks and will get a rebate back for the Theragran-M. So if you do not count the tax I will have profited $2.58 from this transaction!

    Transaction 2

(6) Wrigley gum – 7.14

(1) Pepsi 2 ltr – 1.00
Subtotal – 54.59
-May Quattro IVC – 12.00
-June Quattro IVC – 9.00
-$9 – (3) $3 Quattro mfg q
-7 Day Wrigley’s BOGO q – 3.57
-(3) mfg BOGO Wrigles q – 3.57
-$10/$30 Wags q
Total – 7.45
Tax – 2.72
Total OOP – 10.17

Total before coupons and sale – 64.14

On the last transaction I really miscalculated the totals and ended up paying more out of pocket than anticipated. Because I did not have enough before the $10/$30 I had to pick up the 2 2ltr and 1 bag of popcorn. If I would have calculated the totals correctly I could have purchased 6 more gum. That would have made my subtotal before manufacturer coupons but after the Walgreens coupons much lower resulting in a much lower OOP. Oh well, I still did great. I also got back $2 RR to use later and will send in for a rebate on the Calcium chews. I still will end up profiting .54! For both transactions I actually spent less OOP than what the drinks retail for.

May 27 was the last day to take advantage of the FLIP (Food Lion Internet Printables) and the final day of the Capri Sun deals. I must admit I was secretly hoping they would have been sold out of the Capri Sun’s because I wanted to get rain checks for the different flavors. My plan was to get rain checks from the store closest to me and the store the next town over and have my husband do the same. This would allow for us to get several different rain checks to use at any point in time at a later date. Unfortunately, they were not sold out so I purchased most of what they had left. They were only allowing 5 per customer, however, the manager told me that I could purchase more if I had different cards. Well, I did. I have access to 4 different cards and when the sales limit you to a certain number of items per card I bring the others out. Most of my stores are very coupon friendly with my coupons. There are two stores that I have problems with and I only visit them when I have to. I have learned who is the best person to check me out at those stores and if those particular people are not there I will leave and go back at a later time. Here is how my FL and HT trips turned out:

    Harris Teeter Transaction 1

-$6 (4) .75 manu q smuckers doubled to 1.50
-$2 (2) $1 Dishwasher magic cleaner manu q
Total – $4.19

Unforutnately on this deal I am unable to give the complete breakdown because I mailed the receipt off for the Smucker’s movie cash. For every 2 Smucker’s toppings purchased you will get back up to $4 back for movie rentals. I am hoping to receive $8 back for free movie rentals. I will have spent
.38 and get back up to $8! That is a pretty good turn around.

Food Lion May 26 Trip

May-31-2008 By Ashley

I had several really great FLIP (Food Lion Internet Printables) that I wanted to take advantage of so I did 3 transactions on this day. It is not everyday that you get coupons for fresh meat and when you do you really want to use them! Top the coupons with a sale and you can stock up for a while! I spent more than what I usually do but we are talking about meats. That is the most expensive part of a grocery bill and most of the purchases made were meats. Here is how I did:

Not bad! I could have done better because they had the fresh packaged ground beef on sale for 1.19/lb but they did not have any small packs of it. I would have spent more OOP but got more beef for my money if I purchased the larger packs. By purchasing the tubes it makes it easier to make patties for freezing. I will make another trip tomorrow and get more of the fresh packaged ground beef.

On this day I decided to do 2 shops in one trip. They had the Capri Sun on sale for $1 a box and my babies love this stuff! I choose to buy more of the Capri Sun Water over the juice because this is better for them. I will show them broken down in the two transactions.

While I was out…

May-31-2008 By Ashley

Boy did I miss a few posting days. I did shop and get some really great deals but I have had tons going on around here. I have had two sick little girls I have been getting back and forth to the doctor and pharmacy. I, myself, am getting over bronchitis and now my oldest and youngest are fighting it. My poor babies. I can handle getting sick myself but I hate when they get sick. Yesterday was a pretty good day. Since my oldest has been on antibiotics for several days we thought it would be ok to take her out and do something great. Our family has started a sort of family tradition. At least one Friday a month we take the kids bowling. They absolutely love it! Since the baby is just starting to get sick we decided to have my MIL take care of her to keep her away from any more potentially sick people. When I picked my oldest up from school we took her and my middle to the bowling alley for a fun family game. Thanks to a wonderful member of one of a Yahoo group I am a member of we were able to bowl for just the cost of the shoes. She was kind enough to send me 5 coupons for free games and my girls had a blast! I should have taken the camera but I forgot it. Lets just say my 5 year old whooped my behind! DH came in first and I came in third. Natelyn, my oldest, usually comes in second but she was having an off day. I think maybe it is because she was not feeling all herself. It was a good lesson for her to see it is ok not to always be first or second. It is ok to share the joy of winning with someone else. She is only 8 and has the competitiveness of an adult. She does not like to be anything but a winner. That is good because it shows in her school work and grades but bad because she is not the greatest person to be around after a loss.  Abigail, my 5 year old, is beginning to take after her big sister in the competitiveness area. She likes to rub it in her big sisters face when she is the winner but just like Natelyn she does not take a loss very well. Mallory, my 3 year old, is laid back. She has not begun to understand what winning and losing means quite yet.  Well enough about what we have been up to. Now onto my great deals!

I won again!!!

May-27-2008 By Ashley

During the NCAA championships I went to Walgreens and they had a promotion set up with Pepsi’s and a basketball goal. I filled out the form and dropped it in the box not thinking twice about it since. I received a phone call today telling me that I won!!! I won a sweatshirt with the team of my choice and of course I decided on UNC!!! Gotta love my Tarheels :) . She said to allow 6-8 weeks for it to arrive but that is fine because I will not be needing it anytime soon (hopefully). I am so excited.

So my daughter entered into this contest about 3 weeks ago and won second prize. On Saturday while sitting at my computer we had a knock at the door and it was the Fed Ex man. This is what he brought to her:

Natelyn in her suit.

She can’t wait to take it to school and show it off. I told her that not many people will be able to claim the postition of second prize winner in the contest. I think it was only 350 people that could win. Now if we can just win the Grand Prize for the Capri Sun contest. She want to go to New York and meet the Naked Brothers Band.
