I stopped at Walgreens again this afternoon after I picked up the girls from school. We were running low on milk and they have it on sale for 2.99. The only problem with today’s visit is I forgot most of my coupons. I originally walked in ONLY for milk but remembered I had coupons that I did not use the other day in my purse. This is what I picked up today in two different transactions:
Transaction 1 (2) Benefiber – reg. 15.98 – sale 10.00 On this transaction I received a $5 Cat back for the Benefiber. The magazine in the picture is one I found in the pharmacy and is called Diabetes & You. It has the following coupons in it: ~ Free Contour or Breeze 2 meter WYB on box of Contour Test Strips 50- or 100-count or Breeze 2 10- test Discs 50- or 100-count. Transaction 2 Total Available To Spend $2,434.07 You may notice that I did not subtract the first transaction from my budget money and that is because those items are not food items. I did however use the cat to go towards my second transaction which was (mostly) food and beverage products. I am only using the $2500 for food products but I still want to share any good deals I find/get with all of you so that you can take advantage of them too. |
After picking the kids up from school I decided to run to a couple of places and take advantage of some great deals. I made my first stop at Walgreens and my second stop at Food Lion. Here is how I did at Walgreens: (2) Stayfree Maxi – 13.98 After I left Walgreens I went down the road to Food Lion. I did not do too bad their either:
(1) FL Tea Bags – reg 1.57 Total Available To Spend $2,434.83 Not too bad but I am seeing that available to spend gradually reduce and its just been a week. We are a family of five trying to feed everyone on $48 a week. So far I have spent $65.17 this week but I have saved $300! That is pretty great! The way I see it is not every week is going to be great so I better take advantage of it while I can. Ashley |
The NFL playoffs are going on right now and we have been watching them. Tonight we decided to throw a “Playoff Party”. The guests were the kids, my husband and myself. The kids really get a kick out of having these family parties and we enjoy it as well. While my husband and I were preparing the food he suggested I take pictures and add them to my blog. He said it is nice to show everyone my deals but why not show them what we do with them as well. He is absolutely right. Here is what we prepared this evening: Chili with Cornbread
French Bread Pizza (only half shown) This bread (free with coupons) was HUGE! My husband could only eat one slice of the pizza and the kids only ate half of one slice. Of the four slices we still have one left. This is another complete meal for my husband or two of my kids! We also had some leftover pasta sauce (free after winetag coupon) that was used on the pizza so I decided to take some meatballs out of the freezer (purchased for $2.86 on 12/31 at Walmart) and toss the sauce and meatballs in a pot. I will stick these in the fridge and save them for either Spaghetti and meatballs or Meatball subs. My family loves for me to make the subs with lettuce, tomato and Provalone cheese (YUMMY!). Meatballs and Pasta Sauce
After I emptied the pasta jar I almost threw it away but I noticed that it had the word Mason on it. I also noticed that the lip will fit the mason lids so I decided to wash the jar and save it for canning or gift giving. My local Big Lots sells the lids for these jars. Once I had a chance to look back the cost of these meals came out to about $6! Not bad for 3 meals for 5 people. |
After looking over www.AFullCup.com website and finding some pretty good coupons to print I decided to take a trip to Food Lion. Here are the links I printed the coupons from and the coupons I printed: FREE 2 Liter Of Cherry 7UP Antioxidant w/The Purchase of any (1) 7UP Or Canada Dry (Expires January 27, 2009) $1.00 off Food Lion Eggs (dozen or 18 ct.) Expires January 6 Transaction 1 Transaction 2 I am finding it harder and harder to get above 75% savings at Food Lion. I am looking forward to new winetags. Total Available To Spend $2,453.74

I went for my second day of tripling at Harris Teeter and did not do as well as I did yesterday. I got some great items for the girls lunches this week so I am still satisfied with my shop.
Transaction 1 My total OOP on this should have been $14.79 but $5.82 worth of coupons were not deducted. I can not figure out why they did not multiply to make the product free or to full value?!? I am also going to send off for my $3 produce refund for purchasing the two Ken’s salad spritzers. This will make my total oop 17.61 which will make my percentage saved 78%. Transaction 2 After I paid I was looking over my receipt and I noticed the cookies (which had Christmas packaging and I thought would be on clearance) rang up full price. I then went to CS and got a refund for $8.68 bringing my OOP down to $9.98. Total Available To Spend $2,466.27 |
If you are unaware of this wonderful website I highly suggest checking it out. She shows you the preview of the upcoming coupons. I like to check it out because this lets me know whether or not I should be prepared to purchase more papers or put out an ISO early. If you want to assist me in my quest to keep my resolution this year please feel free to send me the coupons you are not going to use. Here is my ISO for this coming week: SMARTSOURCE SMARTSOURCE #2

As I mentioned in my previous post Harris Teeter started their triple coupons today. I went this morning and met my daddy there to do a couple of deals. I did AWESOME!!! This is going to make my New Year Resolution easy if I can continue to do deals like this! Transaction 1 Transaction 2 Total Available To Spend $2,494.29 |
With a new year comes new resolutions. I have made several personal resolutions but I have been reading a blog that has inspired me to try something new. I am doing something that I have never done before and I am going to need lots of encouragement. I am going to try to feed my family of 5 on $2500 this year. Grocery shopping is something that I am really good at and finding great deals are another specialty of mine so having this goal is going to make me even better at it. So now that I have made this resolution for 2009 I am off to post my first deal! Ashley Total $ saved this year $0 |
