I am a SAHM of three daughters ages 9, 6 and 4. I have been home with my children since my oldest was born in 2000. When we lost my income it really took a toll on our finances. I have used coupons for many years but just recently I became a COUPONER. Before I truly knew how to use a coupon I would clip them and once in a while I might remember to take them to the store. The occurrences that I actually used them was even less than that. Something in me in November 2007 just clicked and I realized that I was doing it all wrong. Its like a light bulb went off and I got it. Now, when I go to the store I have people wanting me to teach them how I do what I do and most of the time I will give them the shortened version. I carry a binder to keep my coupons organized in and you can view pictures of it HERE. My binder saves me more than 50% on my groceries and it goes with me everywhere. I hope you are able to learn how so save that much on your groceries by following my posts.

I look over the sales circulars to see what is on sale. I then go through and look over my coupons and match up the coupons to the sales. When in the store I will look for the sales tags and match up my coupons to the sales tags. I do the same thing with the store coupons. I will match up the store coupons to manu q's and sales. My goal is to make my end total to be as low as possible for what I am aiming to buy. If I don't need something but it is on sale and the sale combined with a coupon makes it free with money towards my bill then I will get it anyway. I have purchased many baby bottles for this very reason. I will put the baby bottles away for baby showers or let my girls play with them with their baby dolls.
  • Ashley, the old you sounds like the me now. I've always wanted to be good at couponing but never "learned the art" so I don't usually do it very often, or very well. I read a few of your blog posts and have to say I am impressed. You've got my attention.

How the heck do you get it sorted out and make it work? Do you have a step one, step two, step three for making grocery lists, clipping coupons, making them match up, and saving 50%????
