Not only do I use coupons to save money but I also have other ways to save money that I want to share with you. You may already be aware of these tips but there may be some here you are not aware of. If you have a great tip that is not listed please leave me a comment at the bottom so that I can start taking advantage of it and also add it to this list!

A Few Extra Tips
As you can see you do not have to just use coupons to save money! I am sure there are many, many, many more ways to save money but this is what I have come up with so far. As I learn about more ways I will be sure to add them to this list.

As you may know KMart is doubling coupons up to and including $2 this week. I decided that I wanted to go first thing yesterday morning to ensure that I will be able to find what I wanted to get. As I should have known anything that was really worth getting was not stocked. My store is HORRIBLE for having good deals in stock. I swear I think someone that works there is going through and matching up any good or free deals and pulling the stock off the shelves. Example, ALL of the Luden’s cough drops in EVERY flavor was completely gone. Anyway, here is what I was able to get:
(2) Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion – 6.58 Total Savings – 62.71 The cereal was a great deal! For every 4 boxes purchased you got $2 off at the register. The cereal was on sale 4/$10 and I had (2) $1/2 coupons which doubled. This is how they worked out: (4) $10 Total Available To Spend $2,161.87

I am trying to get caught up on all of my posts. Here are the deals I took advantage of over the last two weeks. Sorry it is so long. 01/09 – CVS Transaction 1 (card 1) Transaction 2 (card 1) Transaction 3 (card 1) Transaction 4 (card 1) Transaction 5 (card 1) Different Store Transaction 1 (card 1) Infusium 23 Conditioner – clearance – 1.87 Transaction 2 (card 2) Nutra-Trim gum – 3.99 Transaction 3 (card 2) Nutra-Trim gum – 3.99 01/10 First Stop – WALMART: Dove Chocolate Bar (because we were standing in line 30 min!) – .64 * Not only did I get a great deal on my hot tea but it also had a card in it for a FREE year subscription for Better Homes and Gardens! Here is what I did with the tortillas. We wanted to have tortilla chips with chili and when I looked on the side of the bags I did not like what I saw. For every 9 chips there was 8g of fat and the wheat tortillas only contained 1g fat. For each wheat tortilla I was able to make 8 chips. To make them all you need to do is cut each tortilla just like you would cut a pizza. Lay them on a baking sheet and I like to spritz a little cooking spray on them to help make them brown and crisp up (the cooking spray does not contain any fat or cal). Pop them in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 min until golden brown. VOILA! You have tortillia chips. Each pack of 8 tortillas would make about the same number of chips as in a good bag (the cheapest I found on sale at Walmart was $3). By making them this way not only are they better for you but they were $1.08 cheaper! If you wanted to you could sprinkle with low sodium salt or sea salt and eat them just as they are. We chose not to do this because the wheat tortillas are a bit sweet. PERFECT with the Taco salad and chili we made. Second Stop – ALDI SUPERMARKET (2) Gallons 2% Milk – 3.98 Third and Fourth Stop – WALGREENS 1st Transaction Got back $10 cat on this transaction! Second Transaction 01/12 HARRIS TEETER (1) Cookies and Creme Hersheys bar – .79 01/12 SMITHFIELDS CHICKEN & BBQ (2) Pints Stew – 4.99 01/16 First Stop HARRIS TEETER Pepsi 2 ltr – reg 1.79 – sale – 1.59 (DH wanted a 20 oz but this was just a few cents more) Second Stop – FOOD LION Food Lion has some really great printables out right now and if you play your cards just right you can really get some great deals! Here are the printables I used: $2.00 off Any $5.00 Purchase From The Produce Dept. Expires January 27, 2009 – LINK 2.40 lbs White Grapes – reg 4.78 – sale 2.38 To make the $2/$5 deli coupon work with the other coupons I had to purchase something else in the deli. Since the Sara Lee meat was on sale and we needed lunch meat I decided to go with that. It put my deli purchase at $6.48 which met the $5 min for that coupon. Now it would have been an even better deal if I would have purchase the rotisserie chicken because on Friday they take an additional $1 off. My family prefers the fried chicken where I prefer the rotisserie chicken but majority rules around here. 01/17 Stop One – KMART (3) Tylenol Regular – 2.97 Second Stop – WALGREENS Transaction 1 Revlon Matte Lipstick – 7.99 I entered the receipt to get the rebate back on the lip stick. That brings my total down to $6.26 (includes 10% bonus). Transactions 2 and 3 Transaction 2 (4) Halls Breezers – 10.00 Transaction 3 This transaction is a good example of purchasing items you do not need in order to get something you do free or at a reduced price. I needed the nail file which was originally 3.29 but by purchasing both the nail file and the clippers I was able to use (2) $1 q’s. Since the clippers were free because of the buy one get one free sale this meant the $2 came off of the nail file bringing its price down to $1.29. That is a savings of about 63% and I got the clippers free on top of that! I had a very busy week as you can see! I was not able to take advantage of all of the deals I wanted to but you that will happen at times. Total Available To Spend $2,370.13 |
Since I have been behind on posting I am going to catch you up on some of the deals I have done this month. I hope you are ready for some reading Target (06/02)Target had a deal that week that stated for ever 2 razors you purchased you would receive a $10 gift card. The razors were on sale for 7.99 each and there were manu q for $4 off. I had to do 5 different transactions so that I could pay for them with the gift cards giving me less OOP. I did not realize until the second transaction that I could not use the gift card the $10 was put on in the same transaction so I had to pay OOP for the first two transactions instead of putting the second on the first transations gift card. (Confusing I know, this is why I messed up the first time). I am going to give you the condensed version instead of breaking down all of the transations. Here is how I managed to do: (10) Fusion Razors – 79.90 K-Mart (06/02)(1) 20 oz Coke – 1.29 K-Mart (06/06)I did not take a picture of this deal but it is almost the exact same as the previous only this deal is for 10. Just to give you an idea of what I got I am using the same picture from the first transaction just altered to reflect the 10 items purchased. Just keep in mind this deal was for 5 compacts and 5 blush. (5) Max Factor Blush – 44.95 CVS (06/02)(4) Bounty Paper Towels – 23.96 I miscalculated the Dove totals so I did not receive my ECB’s for it on this transaction. I did receive back $8 Huggies ECB, 6.98 Smart Rinse ECB, $2 CVS Swabs ECB, $10 Bounty ECB for a total of 26.98. I used 44.79 in ECB and spent 5.13 OOP for a total of 49.92 and gained back 26.98 for a difference of 22.94. Basically I got everything listed above for just under what the sale price of (4) 8 roll Bounty packs. If I would have calculated correctly on the Dove deal (I was .74 shy of the completed deal) the I would have received the $3 ECB on that deal as well. Oh well, I will remember next time to pack my calculator CVS (06/04)
(3) Chex Mix – $3 Received back $1 Dawn ECB, $15 Brut ECB, $4 Huggies ECB, $6.98 Smart Rinse ECB. I used $23.94 in ECB and paid $1.99 on a GC and paid $1.84 out of pocket and got back $26.98 in ECB. I gained from $23.94 to $26.98 in ECB’s for a total gain of $3.04 in ECB but with everything being factored in (money, GC and ECB) on this transaction I actually lost .79 on this deal but I would say I got a lot for my money! CVS (06/11)(2) CVS Bandages – 3.98 Received back $5 Nivea ECB and $3.98 CVS Bandages ECB. On this transaction I “made” 2.24! Harris Teeter (06/13)Transaction 1(2) Dozen Large HT Eggs – sale – 1.98 Total Before sale and q’s – 58.98 Transaction 2(4) Propel – $4 |
I stopped in at my local KMart the other day and they had the Goodlife Dog Food on sale for $3.99 per bag. I happened to have 5 coupons for $3 making each bag .99! I was able to get 5 bags totalling 20 lbs for $6.30! Retail price – $29.95 I did a price check on the 17 lb bag before I left to get an idea and it was $16.98! The original retail on the 4 lb bags was $5.99 per bag. I saved $5 per bag! |
